| 1. | Policy HOU19 of the Modified Deposit Version of the Great Yarmouth Borough Wide Local Plan states that extensions and alterations to dwellings will be permitted where the privacy and amenity of neighbours are adequately safeguarded. The extension or alteration must :- (a) Be in keeping with the design of the existing dwelling and the character of the area; (b) Not prejudice the amenities of a neighbouring dwelling ; and (c) not result in overdevelopment of the site's curtilage. The proposal is contrary to the objectives of policy HOU19 in that the extension would occupy a large section of the rear curtilage of the dwelling result in a development prejudicial to the amenities of the occupiers of the neighbouring residential properties by reason of overshadowing. Moreover given the extent of development proposed in the rear curtilage the proposal would result in an overdevelopment of the site |
