1.	Policy HOU19 of the Deposit Version of the Great Yarmouth Borough Wide Local Plan states that extensions and alterations to dwellings will be permitted where the privacy and amenity of neighbours are adequately safeguarded. The extension or alteration must :- (a) Be in keeping with the design of the existing dwelling and the character of the area; (b) Not prejudice the amenities of a neighbouring dwelling ; and (c) not result in overdevelopment of the site's curtilage. The proposal is contrary to the objectives of policy HOU19 in that by virtue of the size and proximity of the proposed development to the adjacent property it would result in a type of development which will not be in keeping with the design and character of the area and will prejudice the amenities of the occupiers of the adjacent properties.
