1.	Policy HOU19 of the Deposit Version of the Great Yarmouth Borough Wide Local Plan states that extensions and alterations to dwellings will be permitted where the privacy and amenity of neighbours are adequately safeguarded. The extension or alteration must :- (a) Be in keeping with the design of the existing dwelling and the character of the area; (b) Not prejudice the amenities of a neighbouring dwelling ; and (c) not result in overdevelopment of the site's curtilage. The proposal is contrary to the objectives of policy HOU19 in that by virtue of the size and bulk of the proposed first floor additions they would not be in keeping with the design of the existing dwelling and would be out of character with the area, given the dwelling's position in the street scene projecting in front of the adjacent dwellings. Moreover, given the size of the proposed extension, it would result in an overdevelopment of the plot.
