1.	Policy ADV5 of the Deposit Version of the Great Yarmouth Borough Wide Local Plan states that illuminated advertisements will be permitted provided they:- a) are well designed and sited; b) respect the character and architectural features of the building on which they are displayed; c) will not result in a proliferation of advertisements in any one location d) are not visually obtrusive e) do not detract from the character and or appearance of the area; and f) will not create a highway safety hazard. The signage does not conform with these criteria as they will result in a proliferation of signs which are visually obtrusive and detract from the character of the area. Moreover the signs are detrimental to the residential amenities of the occupiers of the nearby dwellings by virtue of the light spillage from the illumination of the sign.
