1.	Policy HOU19 of the Deposit Version of the Great Yarmouth Borough Wide Local Plan states that extensions and alterations to dwellings will be permitted where the privacy and amenity of neighbours are adequately safeguarded. The extension or alteration must :- (a) Be in keeping with the design of the existing dwelling and the character of the area; (b) Not prejudice the amenities of a neighbouring dwelling ; and (c) not result in overdevelopment of the site's curtilage. The proposal is contrary to the objectives of policy HOU19 in that the rear extension would,by virtue of its bulk and proximity to the boundaries of the site, adversely affect the amenities of the occupiers of the neighbouring dwellings. Furthermore it is considered that the proposed front extension would be out of keeping with the design of the existing dwelling and detrimental to the visual amenities of the street scene.
