1.	The proposed first floor, flat roofed extension would have an adverse effect on the character and appearance of the surrounding area by virtue of its prominence in the street scene. The height of the extension and its proximity to the boundary of the dwelling to the north would result in it having an overbearing effect on the outlook and amenities of that dwelling. The extension would not be in keeping with the design of the existing hipped roof bungalow and would be out of keeping with the character of the building and existing development in the surrounding area. The proposal is therefore contrary to Policy BNV18 of the Great Yarmouth Borough-Wide Local Plan which requires alterations and extensions to buildings to be sympathetic to the character of the building and its setting.
