| 1. | The proposed alterations and extensions to the roof of the property are an unacceptable form of development that would be architecturally out of character with the existing house and surrounding dwellings. The proposal would result in the house having an overdominant appearance which would be a visual intrusion in the surroundings and out of character with the street scene. The increased height and form of the front extension to the roof, together with the increased bulk of the main roof, would have an overbearing effect on the amenities and outlook of the occupiers of the neighbouring dwelling to the north. The alterations and extensions to the roof would also result in some overshadowing and loss of light to the neighbouring property. Therefore, for the reasons given above, the proposed development is considered to be contrary to the provisions of Policy BNV18 and criteria (i) and (ii) of Policy HOU18 of the Great Yarmouth Borough-Wide Local Plan. |
