1.	Policy HOU18 of the Great Yarmouth Borough-Wide Local Plan statesthat extensions and alterations to dwellings will be permitted where the proposal is (i) in keeping with the design of the existing dwelling and the character of the area, (ii) would not be significantly effect the amenities of any neighbouring dwelling; and (iii) would not result in overdevelopment of the site. The proposal is cosidered contrary to the objectives of Policy HOU18 in that the addition of a substantial extension projecting almost upto the boundary of the property with the adjacent Alexander Close and stepping well in advance of the front elevation of the existing bungalow is considered to create an overdominant feature on this prominent corner location and the size of the extension proposed with a large hipped is considered to be out of character and scale with the existing modest detached bungalow.
