| 1. | Policy HOU18 of the adopted Great Yarmouth Borough-Wide Local Plan states :- "Extensions and alterations to dwellings will be permitted where the proposal: (i) Is in keeping with the design of the existing dwelling and the character of the area; (ii) Would not significantly affect the amenities of any neighbouring dwellings, and (iii) Would not result in over-development of the site. The proposal is deemed to be contrary to criteria (i) and (ii) of this policy in that the erection of the front extension would, by virtue of its excessive projection and close proximity to the lounge window of the adjoining dwelling, result in an unneighbourly form of development that would be detrimental to the amenities of the occupiers of the adjoining dwelling by reason of overshadowing and loss of visual amenity. Moreover the front extension would be an unduly conspicuous feature, architecturally out of character with the modest front porches on the other properties in Imperial Mews, and detrimental to the visual amenity of the locality. |
