| 1. | Policy HOU18 of the Adopted Version of the Great Yarmouth Borough Wide Local Plan states that extensions and alterations to dwellings will be permitted where the privacy and amenity of neighbours are adequately safeguarded. The extension or alteration must :- (a) Be in keeping with the design of the existing dwelling and the character of the area; (b) Not prejudice the amenities of a neighbouring dwelling ; and (c) not result in overdevelopment of the site's curtilage. The proposal is contrary to the objectives of policy HOU18 in that the addition of a two storey extension abutting the eastern boundary of the plot and in close proximity to the southern boundary of the site would be an unneighbourly form of development by virtue of overshadowing, loss of visual amenity and loss of privacy contrary to the criteria of the policy. |
