1.	Policy HOU18 of the Adopted Version of the Great Yarmouth Borough Wide Local Plan states that extensions and alterations to dwellings will be permitted where the privacy and amenity of neighbours are adequately safeguarded. The extension or alteration must :- (a) Be in keeping with the design of the existing dwelling and the character of the area; (b) Not prejudice the amenities of a neighbouring dwelling ; and (c) not result in overdevelopment of the site's curtilage. The proposal is contrary to the objectives of policy HOU18 in that the proposed two storey extension being located in close proximity to the northern boundary of the site would be an unneighbourly form of development which will give rise to overshadowing by virtue of the bulk of the extension.
