1.	Policy HOU18 of the Temporary Adopted Version of the Great Yarmouth Borough Wide Local Plan states that extensions and alterations to dwellings will be permitted where the privacy and amenity of neighbours are adequately safeguarded. The extension or alteration must :- (a) Be in keeping with the design of the existing dwelling and the character of the area; (b) Not prejudice the amenities of a neighbouring dwelling ; and (c) not result in overdevelopment of the site's curtilage. The proposal is contrary to the objectives of policy HOU18 in that the increase in the bulk of the roof by the extension over the existing flat roofed garage and increase in height of the ridge of the roof will result in a development that will prejudice the amenities of the of the occupiers of the neighbouring properties in Victoria Road by reason of the overbearing effect and overshadowing created by the proposed roof extension.
