1.	Policy HOU19 of the Modified Deposit Version of the Great Yarmouth Borough Wide Local Plan states that extensions and alterations to dwellings will be permitted where the privacy and amenity of neighbours are adequately safeguarded. The extension or alteration must :- (a) Be in keeping with the design of the existing dwelling and the character of the area; (b) Not prejudice the amenities of a neighbouring dwelling ; and (c) not result in overdevelopment of the site's curtilage. The proposal is contrary to the objectives of policy HOU19 in that by virtue of the size, bulk and proximity of the extension to the boundary with the adjoining properties it would prejudice their residential amenities by reason of loss of outlook and overshadowing. Furthermore by virtue of the size of the proposed extension it is considered that the proposal would result in an overdevelopment of the site.
