1.	Policy HOU19 of the Modified Deposit Version of the Great Yarmouth Borough Wide Local Plan states that extensions and alterations to dwellings will be permitted where the privacy and amenity of neighbours are adequately safeguarded. The extension or alteration must :- (a) Be in keeping with the design of the existing dwelling and the character of the area; (b) Not prejudice the amenities of a neighbouring dwelling ; and (c) not result in overdevelopment of the site's curtilage. The proposal is contrary to the objectives of policy HOU19 in that the changes the roof of the existing bungalow would not be in keeping with the design of the nearby bungalows and would unbalance the existing pair of bungalows. Furthermore the large amount of additional floorspace created would result in an overdevelopment of the site and result in a form of development detrimental to the amenities of the occupier of the adjacent bungalow.
