1. | Chestnut House is a Grade 2 Listed Building and the replacement of the existing simple, four-pane sash windows with replacement windows consisting of small panes of glass with thick, heavy glazing bars would significantly alter the appearance of the windows and would be detrimental to the overall character and appearance of the building. In addition to this, the windows that have been installed are wider than the arches above the window openings and the cutting back of the brickwork to the side of the openings has damaged the fabric of the building. The proposal is therefore contrary to Policy BNV5 of the Great Yarmouth Borough-Wide Local Plan which only supports alterations to Listed Buildings where the special character of the building is preserved. |
